Both Gal-1 and Gal-3 serum levels proved to be good parameters to distinguish patients with established RA from controls, as the area under the ROC curve (AUC) for both parameters was above 0.8 (Gal-1 AUC = 0.82, Gal-3 AUC = 0.88; both p < 0.0001) (Figure 2N).
