Chronic caffeine consumption for 4 months did not significantly affect the immunoreactivity of these synaptic markers, whereas it prevented the T2D-induced reduction of SNAP25 (caffeine P = 0.587, diabetes P = 0.176, interaction P = 0.0162; Figure 5A) but not synaptophysin immunoreactivity (caffeine P = 0.349, diabetes P = 0.001, interaction P = 0.681; Figure 5B).
