Several features of the GO chip contribute to the improved sensitivity of CTC isolation compared to conventional methods: 1) graphene oxide increases the surface area on which the tumor specific capture antibodies were present, 2) microfluidic structure obtains optimized flow pattern for cell capture, 3) an antibody cocktail of anti-EpCAM, anti-EGFR and anti-CD133 enables the isolation of CTCs expressing variable levels of epithelial and mesenchymal markers. The gene discussed is PROM1; the disease is neoplasm.
