Comparing the annual incidence rates for breast cancer in the age group 21 to 29 years, the point estimate for observed incidence rate in carriers of infrequent path_BRCA1 variants was higher (13 events in 596 observation years; AIR 2.2% (95%CI 1.7–3.7%)) than in carriers of frequent path_BRCA1 variants (8 events in 887 observation years; AIR 0.9% (95%CI 0.4–1.8%)) but insignificantly so (p > 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and breast carcinoma.
