PPIB and hypercalcemia disease: Recent reports suggest that gallium, a FDA approved agent used in cancer related hypercalcemia and cancer diagnostics, has been repurposed for antimicrobial therapies.15,16 In-silico studies supported by SPR data showed that acarbose, a FDA approved drug against diabetes, and cyclosporine-A, a FDA approved immunosuppressant used in patients undergoing organ transplantation, interact with PpiB and inhibit biofilm forming activity of PpiB.
