In age- and sex-adjusted Cox analyses (model 1), 7 proteins were associated with incident diabetes and fulfilled the prespecified Bonferroni-corrected p-value of <5.5 × 10−4: paraoxonase-3 (PON3) (p = 3.3 × 10−9), fatty acid binding protein −4, (FABP4) (p = 9.3 × 10−9), plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI) (p = 4.0 × 10−8),insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) (p = 2.9 × 10−7), scavenger receptor cysteine rich type 1 protein M130 (CD163) (p = 3.9 × 10−6), cathepsin D (CTSD) (p = 5.2 × 10−4) and Galectin-4 (Gal-4) (p = 5.4 × 10−4). Here, SERPINE1 is linked to diabetes mellitus.
