More recently, it was shown that autophagy-related genes (ATGs), such as optineurin (OPTN), transcription factor EB (TFEB) and leucine-rich repeat kinase (LRRK), are associated with increased susceptibility to colitis, suggesting that these genes are important in colonic immune homeostasis [19,20,21,22,23,24,25]. The gene discussed is OPTN; the disease is colitis.
