E2F6 and ovarian carcinoma: In another study that investigated miR in the determination of cancer cell phenotype, Cheng et al. used bifurcation analysis for a network motif model consisting of miR-193a, c-KIT, and E2F6 in ovarian cancer cells (Figure 2A) to show a bi-stable switch-like behavior of c-KIT in response to E2F6 levels, offering novel therapeutic insights for a miR-mediated network involving the ceRNA (competing endogenous RNA) mechanism in tumorigenesis [33,34].
