To test this, we measured protein expression of GPI anchor attachment 1 (GPAA1), a component of the GPI transamidase complex that attaches the GPI anchor to protein substrates, post-GPI attachment protein 1 (PGAP1), which deacylates the GPI anchor, and transmembrane protein 21 (Tmp21), a subunit of the p24 complex that regulates ER export of GPI-APs, in postmortem samples of dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) from subjects with schizophrenia and matched comparison subjects. The gene discussed is PGAP1; the disease is schizophrenia.
