AKT1 and cancer: Many studies have found that deregulated FAM38A expression contributes to cancer in several tissue types, such as lung, breast and gastric tissues.8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 Several studies have identified FAM83A as a candidate oncogene capable of enhancing cancer cell proliferation and invasiveness through the RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways.8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17 In our study, we found that FAM83A‐AS could significantly increase the protein level of FAM38A and induce the phosphorylation of ERK, which results in the promotion of cancer cell proliferation and invasion.
