As the most common sensitive gene mutations for lung cancer, a fusion gene between the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene and echinoderm microtubule associated protein-like 4 (EML4) was identified in 3% to 7% of unselected NSCLC patients [22], and further proved to be a potent oncogenic driver [23, 24]. This evidence concerns the gene ALK and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
