In order to determine if ZIKV infection causes white matter damage in term pregnancies and postnatally as reported in ZIKV+ fetuses/infants in human population [5] and observed in the 3rd trimester pigtail macaque fetus with ZIKV positive brain [37, 38], we performed IF for O1, a marker for immature oligodendrocytes and the only cell population that matures to oligodendrocytes that are responsible for myelinating the axons.
