Our demonstration that the activation of PPARγ by point mutation, like PPARG amplification7 or RXRα mutation8,13, confers bladder cancer cells a PPARγ dependency, provides additional genetic evidence for a pro-tumorigenic role of PPARγ in bladder cancer and strengthens the importance of the PPARγ/RXRα pathway in luminal bladder cancer. The gene discussed is PPARG; the disease is urinary bladder carcinoma.
