According to the cBioPortal database [30,31], missense mutations and other alterations in the gene encoding p110α, PIK3CA, are observed in 11% of all cancers, with considerably higher frequencies in many cancer types including: endometrial (52%, 304/586), vaginal (50%, 2/4), penile (43%, 3/7), cervical (39%, 18/46) and breast (38%, 732/1923) (Figure 2a, Figure 3a and Figure 4a) [30,31]. The gene discussed is PIK3CA; the disease is cancer.
