It has already been suggested that for EBNA3-repressed tumour suppressor gene BCL2L11 (expressing the pro-apoptotic member of BCL-2 family, BIM) H3K27me3 deposition in the presence of EBNA3A and EBNA3C could lead to DNA methylation (12,20) that makes infected cells resistant to aberrant expression of Myelocytomatosis proto-oncogene (MYC) and provides an obvious path to EBV-associated endemic Burkitt’s lymphoma (reviewed in (4)). Here, BCL2L11 is linked to neoplasm.
