Although genetic risk factors such as ApoE4 for AD are present across the lifespan, disease onset does not occur until later in life.2 Our findings suggest that chronic low-grade inflammation interacts with ApoE4 to accelerate the onset of AD in a pattern dependent on the CRP level (Figure 1 and Figure 2; eFigure 2 in the Supplement). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and Alzheimer disease.
