HTT and Parkinson disease: A hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Huntingtin’s and Parkinson’s disease is the accumulation of dysfunctional and aggregation-prone proteins, and it is thus not surprising that autophagy, or rather impairment of autophagy, has been linked to neurodegeneration in numerous studies, as documented in several excellent reviews [22,174,175,176].
