This hypothesis is further supported by the observation that the CS chains of cancer cell‐derived serglycin, which are composed of a small number of 4,6‐disulfated disaccharides in addition to the predominant 4‐O‐sulfated ones (from 87 to 93% of the total disaccharides versus maximally 10% of 6‐O‐sulfated and 5% of unsulfated ones) 151, 152, strongly promote the anchorage‐independent growth of these cells 151. This evidence concerns the gene SRGN and cancer.
