Our previous report showed that liver injury was aggravated as the metastasized tumour expanded in the liver, and AMPKα2 deficiency enhanced the liver injury when the tumour sizes are similar in WT and AMPKα2−/− mice (injecting fewer cancer cells into AMPKα2−/− mice).17 Our present results showed that knockout of AMPKα2 enhanced the tumour growth and liver injury in the colon cancer cell liver metastasis mouse model (Figure 2). This evidence concerns the gene PRKAA2 and colonic neoplasm.
