Among the patients with endoscopically confirmed varices, patients admitted on off-hours were older (P=0.015) and had lower red blood cell (P=0.026) and serum albumin (P<0.001) and higher white blood cell (P<0.001), blood urea nitrogen (P<0.001), potassium (P=0.001), prothrombin time (P=0.027), INR (P=0.04), Child-Pugh score (P<0.001), MELD score (P=0.023), recalibrated MELD score (P=0.023), and ALBI score (P<0.001) than those admitted on regular hours.
