Interestingly, SNPs from the chromosomal region that includes the gene encoding diacylglycerol kinase theta (DGKQ), which mediates the production of phosphatidic acid (PA) from DAG, are associated with PD susceptibility [14,226,227], and DGKQ is linked to increased PA 36:2 production and consequent α-synuclein aggregation [228]. The gene discussed is SNCA; the disease is Parkinson disease.
