Given the broad implication of MYC protein in human cancers (Gabay et al., 2014), its myriad functions inside the cell (Dang et al., 2006) and its regulation at both the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels by a number of signalling pathways (Nussinov et al., 2016), it seems an excellent candidate to pioneer field cancerisation (Moreno, 2008). This evidence concerns the gene MYC and cancer.
