miR-146a-5p has been proposed to play a role in the early pro-inflammatory response of AD by downregulating complement factor H, interleukin-1 receptor, and tetraspanin-12 and found to be upregulated in the hippocampus of AD patients at early stages; consistently, we found increased levels of this miRNA in 2-month-old SAMP8. Here, TSPAN12 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
