ALCAM and cancer: Although the experiments performed did not address leukocyte transmigration in vivo but actually used brain microvascular endothelial cells isolated from wild-type and knockout mice (61), these observations are concordant with a recent report where the re-engineered additional expression in CD6 molecules of the domain (d3) that interacts with CD166 significantly promotes T cell migration into the brain in a brain cancer model, where cancer endothelium upregulates CD166 expression (67).
