We confirmed a productive infection of HSV-2 in mouse vagina by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence-histochemistry assays (Supplementary Material Figures 1A,B), while Cytometric Bead Array (CBA) showed that the production of mouse chemokines CXCL9 and CXCL10 was significantly increased (Figure 1A). The gene discussed is CXCL9; the disease is infection.
