SMARCD3 is a core component of the SWI/SNF protein complex, which uses the energy generated by ATP hydrolysis to alter DNA–histone interactions, thereby facilitating the function of transcriptional activators involved in glycolytic metabolism via its induction of DEP domain-containing mTOR-interacting protein (DEPTOR) expression and protein kinase B (Akt) activation, and thus improving insulin resistance and lowering blood glucose (Peterson and Tamkun, 1995; Meng et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene SMARCA1 and Insulin resistance.
