GAS5 and systemic lupus erythematosus: Altered lncRNA GAS5 levels in whole blood or leucocytes of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, sarcoidosis, osteoarthritis and inflammatory bowel disease have already been reported [24, 35, 36], thus suggesting that lncRNA GAS5 may play a role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases (probably modulating responsiveness to endogenous GCs), which are more frequent in KS patients.
