The cyclin D1 gene is intensified in pancreatic carcinomas.6 Proapoptotic Bax protein can induce apoptosis via the intrinsic signaling pathway (also known as mitochondrial apoptosis).7,8 Previous findings suggest that enhanced apoptosis-promoting Bax gene expression may have therapeutic application in pancreatic cancer cells.9,10. The gene discussed is BAX; the disease is familial pancreatic carcinoma.
