This data were originally used to scan for standard loci affecting albumin excretion, an early indicator of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetic nephropathy resulting from podocyte damage and immune cell recruitment, and to determine the genetic role of Apoe in albuminuria (Joss et al. 2005; Doorenbos et al. 2008; Coto et al. 2013), and down-regulates mesangial cell proliferation associated with renal disease (Chen et al. 2001). This evidence concerns the gene ALB and chronic kidney disease.
