miR34-a, transcriptionally regulated by p53, acts as tumor suppressor through the regulation of multiples genes involved in tumorigenesis and cancer progression, such as NOTCH1, platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha (PDGFRA), NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) and SURVIVIN, as well as p53 target genes [22–25].
