Interestingly, a proteomic analysis of the livers of transgenic Apoc3 mice which display a hypertriglyceridaemic phenotype, but no atherosclerosis [32], also showed an upregulation of cytosolic antioxidant enzymes, albeit amongst a slightly different set of proteins to the Lp(a) mice, indicating that different lipoprotein profiles may elicit different responses with respect to the proteins that are regulated. This evidence concerns the gene LPA and atherosclerosis.
