VEGFA and renal cell carcinoma: Von-Hippel-Landau (VHL) gene, a tumor suppressor gene which is regulator of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and other hypoxia-inducible factors (HIF) are found to be deleted, mutated, or altered in up to 80% of the patients with clear cell carcinoma, the most common subtype of RCC accounting for more than 80% of cases8,9.
