This study showed that ectopic expression of Efp reversed the effects of TGF-β inhibitor on the migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells by increasing the expression levels of phosphorylated Smad2/4 and matrix metalloprotease-2 and -9, suggesting that Efp promotes cell migration and invasion by regulating the TGF-β pathway. The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is gastric cancer.
