Because the molecular mechanisms of the photoreceptor cell death are reportedly different between the P23H (Class 2) and the S334ter (Class 1) rhodopsin mutations [19, 20], it is interesting to determine whether there are any differences in the SD-OCT findings and their relationships with morphological and electrophysiological features during the processes of retinal degeneration between these two mutations. This evidence concerns the gene RHO and retinal degeneration.
