ZC3H14 and intellectual disability, autosomal recessive: In higher eukaryotes, the human Nab2 orthologue, ZC3H14, and Drosophila orthologue, DmNab2 are also required for proper poly(A) tail length control,12, 13 in addition to the well‐characterized poly(A) tail length regulator and nuclear poly(A) binding protein, PABPN1.14, 15 Importantly, mutations in the human ZC3H14 gene have been linked to a nonsyndromic form of autosomal recessive intellectual disability,12, 16 linking Nab2/ZC3H14 to proper neuronal function.
