In the mouse model of Burkholderia infection with various strains of B. pseudomallei and B. mallei, our study suggests that an increase in cytosolic p62 levels over the normal non‐infected control were consistent with bacterial burden, thus, it raised the possibility that p62 may be a potential prognostic host cell biomarker for Burkholderia infection. The gene discussed is SQSTM1; the disease is Burkholderia Infections.
