Out of these 25 potential candidates, 8 genes (NEUROD1, NCAM-1, EGFR, PDGFRA, UNC5B, KCNJ10, NF-kB2, NR4A3) have previously been shown to be associated with epilepsy, whereas 17 genes (PPA2B, ECT2, SNPH, BCL6, DLG1, RPS6KA3, NTRK3, PRKAA1, DNER, NLGN1, TIAM1, KCNH8, EMX1, NKX6, LHX2, NR2E1, BRCA1) are novel in our study (Table 2). This evidence concerns the gene PRKAA1 and epilepsy.
