Our result suggests that DNMT3α might modulate synaptic plasticity by epigenetically regulating EGFR, PDGFRA, mTOR pathways, in addition to other genes involved in cortical development and neuronal plasticity, and thus could play a critical pathogenetic role in epileptogenesis in FCD type II patients. This evidence concerns the gene DNMT3A and isolated focal cortical dysplasia type II.
