Out of these 25 potential candidates, 8 genes (NEUROD1, NCAM-1, EGFR, PDGFRA, UNC5B, KCNJ10, NF-kB2, NR4A3) have previously been shown to be associated with epilepsy, whereas 17 genes (PPA2B, ECT2, SNPH, BCL6, DLG1, RPS6KA3, NTRK3, PRKAA1, DNER, NLGN1, TIAM1, KCNH8, EMX1, NKX6, LHX2, NR2E1, BRCA1) are novel in our study (Table 2). The gene discussed is RPS6KA3; the disease is epilepsy.
