When C57BL/6J mice were fed HF diets including various amounts of fish oil, two mechanisms that reduced amount of mature, active SREBP-1 protein through fish oil feeding were reported: inhibition of the SREBP-1 proteolytic cascade when the mice were fed low amounts of fish oil (10–30 en%); and inhibition of the SREBP-1 proteolytic cascade and a decrease of SREBP-1 mRNA expression when the mice were fed high amounts of fish oil (about 50 en%), but the hepatic TG concentration was not reported [69]. This evidence concerns the gene SREBF1 and hydrops fetalis.
