CYP19A1 and breast cancer: Altogether, studies suggest that women receiving adjuvant chemotherapy and/or aromatase inhibitors for BC experience metabolic alterations giving rise to a phenotype associated with increased risk of developing cardiometabolic disease as well as BC recurrence.9, 16 The importance of improved understanding of long‐term impact as well as the underlying mechanisms is underlined by the fact that women who are free of disease after 5 years of tamoxifen treatment are more likely to die from non‐BC causes.17 However, no data exist on longer follow‐up times with regard to non‐BC causes of mortality.
