As it has been previously shown that mast cells, which accumulate in Apc+/min polyps and human colorectal cancer are linked to progressive polyp growth [35], as they interact with Treg cells to generate potently immune suppressive but pro-inflammatory FoxP3+ cells that are characterised by a reduction in IL-10 production [36], a feature observed in our model. The gene discussed is FOXP3; the disease is colorectal cancer.
