Whilst some selenoproteins are important for skeletal muscle health and function (reviewed in (Rederstorff et al. 2006)) and SEPS1 is associated with metabolic disease (Karlsson et al. 2004; Du et al. 2008; Yu et al. 2016) including circulating plasma triglyceride concentrations in vivo (Walder et al. 2002), its specific role in response to excess saturated fatty acids in skeletal muscle has to date not been described.
