The roles of MyD88, TLR2 and TLR4 in the recognition of the parasite and defining the fate of L. amazonensis infection were evaluated by calculating the percentage of infected macrophages, number of amastigotes per infected macrophage and infectivity index in BMDMs from WT, MyD88−/−, TLR2−/−, or TLR4−/− mice, after 4, 24, and 48 h of infection (Figure 1).
