Treatment of platelets and mice with the PLD inhibitor FIPI (5-Fluoro-2-Indolyl Deschlorohalopemide) known to inhibit the enzymatic activity of both PLD1 and PLD2 resulted in altered platelet activation and protection against FeCl3 injury and ischemic stroke as observed in Pld1-/-/Pld2-/-mice (Stegner et al., 2013). Here, PLD2 is linked to ischemic stroke.
