Based on the evidence that NURR1 is able to prevent DA neurons from inflammation-induced death through the anti-inflammatory pathway (Bensinger and Tontonoz, 2009; Saijo et al., 2009), we suspected that the decreased level of NURR1 gene in the pathogenesis of PD may give rise to the expression of inflammatory cytokines. Here, NR4A2 is linked to Parkinson disease.
