DEFB1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: According with the antecedents and considering that the T2DM affect more than 550 million people all over the globe (American Diabetes Association, 2013; Chen, Magliano, & Zimmet, 2011), the aim of this study was to establish the association of two polymorphisms (−20 G/A [rs11362] and −44 C/G [rs1800972]) of the DEFB1 gene with the risk of developing T2DM in a group of Mexican patients.
