RT-PCR findings indicated that chromium supplementation upregulated gene expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) (p = 0.01), glucose transporter 1 (GLUT-1) (p = 0.001) and low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) (p = 0.01), as well as downregulated gene expression of interleukin-1 (IL-1) (p = 0.004) in PBMCs of patients with PCOS compared with the placebo. Here, VLDLR is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
