Vezza et al. (2016) [32] reports several studies that show the positive impact of flavonoids on intestinal inflammation in experimental rodent colitis models, including models that chemically induce colitis, such as acetic acid, trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid (TNBS), and sodium dextran sulfate (DSS), in genetically modified animal models such as HLA-B27 mice, or knockout mice for IL-10, and in cell transfer models, which show similarities with IBD in humans.
