Another study of EMT-related genes in a cohort of 128 HCC patients revealed that four candidate genes (E-cadherin (CDH1), inhibitor of DNA binding 2 (ID2), matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP9), and transcription factor 3 (TCF3)) were independent prognostic factors for the overall survival of HCC patients [116]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP9 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
