ZFAS1 and colorectal cancer: The ZFAS1 locus is host to 3 C/D-box snoRNAs and its transcription initiates from the antisense strand near the 5′ end of the protein-coding gene ZNFX1.[7] It was originally identified as a tumor suppressor gene in human breast[7] and liver cancers.[8] However, in recent years, increasing evidences have demonstrated that lncRNA ZFAS1 was upregulated in various cancers such as colorectal cancer,[9] glioma[10] and gastric cancer.[11] The upregulation of ZFAS1 may promote tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis.
