More recently, the focal adhesion protein Kindlin 2 was found to form a complex with DNA (cytosine-5-)-methyltransferase 3 alpha (DNMT3A) in breast cancer cells to induce CpG island hypermethylation of the miR-200 promoter, leading to the decreased expression of the miR-200 family members [42]. The gene discussed is DNMT3A; the disease is breast cancer.
